精彩的《美国谍梦》

第三季《美国谍梦》（The Americans）追看完了，一共十三集。在最后一集的最后场景，Philip痛苦的向妻子Elizabeth讲自己在她们母女不在的时候，如何又做了一票，杀人和为何杀人所带来的煎熬让他内心痛苦不堪。最后两分钟之内，影片是三个场景的叠加，第二个场景中，楼上，她们的女儿同样痛苦的在向电话中的牧师求救，因为她不能把自己也变成一个一辈子生活在谎言之中的人，她向牧师吐露了父母都是苏联人而不是美国人的秘密。第三个场景是当时的电视报道，报道了美国总统在发表演讲，抨击苏联是邪恶帝国，即著名的邪恶帝国演讲（evil empire speech）。

电视上的播报是这样的：

总统就冻结核武器运动展开了新一轮攻势。发表了一篇福音派教会演说：《前进吧，基督战士（Onward, Christian Soldiers）》，反对他们冻结核武器的论调。

“…simpleminded appeasement of wishful thinking about our adversaries is folly. It means the betrayal of our past, the squandering of our freedom. （……对我们的对手一味妥协，抑或一厢情愿实属愚昧。这意味着背叛我们的过去，虚掷我们的自由。）”

里根总统从道德层面上与苏联进行对峙，用其就职以来发表过最犀利的言辞谴责苏联领导人。

“…in your discussions of the nuclear freeze proposals, I urge you to beware the temptation of pride, the temptation of blithely declaring yourselves above it all and label both sides equally at fault. （……在你们商议核冻结提议之时，我要提醒你们提防傲慢的诱惑，提防那种宣称自己凌驾于一切之上，并对双方各打五十大板的诱惑。）”

“…to ignore the facts of history and the aggressive impulses of an evil empire, to simply call the arms race a giant misunderstanding, and thereby remove yourself from the struggle between right and wrong and good and evil.（……无视一个邪恶帝国的历史，何其勃勃的野心，径自宣称军备竞赛不过是一场巨大的误会，由此使自己置身于对与错、善与恶之外。）”

“…while they preach the supremacy of the state, declare its omnipotence over individual man and predict its eventual domination of all peoples on the earth, they are the focus of evil in the modern world.（……只要他们继续鼓吹国家的至高无上，宣扬国家对于个体的无所不能，并预言它将最终统治全人类，他们就是现代世界的邪恶轴心）”

随着电视中里根的演讲，本集结束，本季也结束了。故事暂停在1983年，距离苏联崩溃还有八年的时间，不知道这个剧集是不是一直要讲到1991年。

需要指出的是，电视剧中里根总统的最后一段话，在其演讲当中，其实是出现在其余话语之前的，电视剧中如此重排话语前后顺序，恐怕是剧情叙述的需要。原来的话语是告诫教会人士不要乱发善心，并且为生活在极权统治下的人们祈祷。邪恶帝国苏联早已经崩溃了，可那个幽灵依然在游荡，又有谁人似里根？

Yes, let us pray for the salvation of all of those who live in that totalitarian darkness–pray they will discover the joy of knowing God. But until they do, let us be aware that while they preach the supremacy of the State, declare its omnipotence over individual man, and predict its eventual domination of all peoples on the earth, they are the focus of evil in the modern world. （是的，让我们为所有那些生活于极权主义黑幕中的人祈祷。祝愿他们发现认识上帝的喜乐。但是在他们认识上帝之前，我们必须警觉，只要他们继续鼓吹国家的至高无上、宣扬国家对于个体的万能、并预言它将最终统治全人类，他们就是现代世界的邪恶中心。）
